Beyond Nuclear

Reaching the climate goals of the future requires a massive step change - and that is exactly what happened in Denmark. In this film we go back to the 1980’s and the birth of the modern windmill industry.

To reach the 2050 climate goals we need to move beyond current conventions of ingenuity. This might seem impossible, but impossible has been done before. In this film we go back to the 1980’s, when the world of energy looked very different than it does today. Growing concerns on climate change were deafened by not only the coal and oil industry, but also nuclear plants, promising clean and easy energy. But in Denmark, a different path was taken. The budding windmill industry that had taken its first baby steps in the 1970’s got organized.

What started as a dream turned into a large scale business that is key in the green transition. At the North Sea Wind Power Hub we are inspired by stories like the Danish windmill fairytale. Moments in history that has moved the boundaries of engineering. Because this is the level of ambition that is required to solve the monumental climate crisis.
